Rabies is caused by a virus. It is in a saliva of an infected animal. Rabies is commonly found in dogs, cats, bats, raccoons, monkeys and other wildlife animals. In the Philippines, 98% of the animal bites are from dogs and only 2% are from cats.
All warm-blooded animals can get rabies, and some may serve as natural reservoirs of the virus.
